He is a leading organiser and programme contributor for international steelpan and carnival arts conferences in Europe, having helped run multiple biennial/International Steelpan and Carnival Arts conferences.
Shah is closely associated with the UK steelpan community (including Nostalgia UK and Steel Pan Music initiatives), using public events and exhibitions to promote steelpan history and diaspora connections.
He has presented talks and curated exhibitions on TASPO, steelpan history and Caribbean carnival culture, helping link archival material and living performers for public engagement.
Across decades he has played a bridging role—bringing academic, cultural and community perspectives together to promote steelpan as both a musical art and a vehicle for diaspora cultural diplomacy.
