Rachel Hayward is a UK-based steelpan player, teacher, and performer with more than three decades of experience on the steel drum. She began playing pan in 1985 with a school steel band and pursued formal music training in double bass and piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, followed by an advanced degree in music at City University London. the Caribbean with her steelpan music. In 1996 she became the only European to reach the finals of the World Steelband Soloists Competition in Trinidad.

Her performances include playing with the Nostalgia Steel Band at the 2012 London Olympic Opening Ceremony. She has also arranged and directed steel band music for major events including the Notting Hill Carnival.

Rachel teaches and leads ensembles, creates arrangements for steel groups, and continues to promote steelpan music across concerts, festivals, and educational programs.
